About us

We're a multidisciplinary team of researchers, developers and advocates pushing for a healthcare system that prioritizes patient over private interests. We're using civic tech and open source principles to monitor and share data on financial relationships between clinical practice guideline writers and the pharmaceutical industry.

How we work

Our approach is simple -- we're linking and enabling access to different sets of publicly available data, and using what we learn to advocate for medical practice aligned with the public interest. Published clinical practice guidelines list their authors. We verify those authors and extract their available payment records from the US Open Payments program. Next, we'll build an API and dashboard to enable access for all.

Why clinical practice guidelines?

As trusted treatment recommendations that doctors rely on for everyday decision-making, guidelines greatly influence the treatments, prescriptions and care we receive. They also influence drug sales - and pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in ensuring their products are those recommended treatments. We think guideline development is an area vulnerable to conflicts of interest & we're on a mission to better identify and manage them.
